Drama As Nigerian Pastor, Charge Church Members N310,000 Each To ‘Fly Them To Heaven’

Ade Abraham, the pastor of Christ High Commission Ministry, also known as Royal Christ Assembly, Kaduna State, has convinced members of his church to relocate to a camp in Ekiti State with him, in order to “prepare for the end of the world”.

According to FIJ, one of Abraham’s congregants said that the pastor first relocated to Ekiti State from Kaduna State, where he was formerly based, in 2020.

He then later returned to Kaduna State in April to ask each member of his church to pay him N310,000 before they would be allowed to follow him to Omuo-Ekiti, where “the gate of heaven will open for all of them to fly to heaven”.

According to the source, Abraham also assured the members that they would all ‘ascend to heaven together from the location in Ekiti’.

“My relative has also asked her daughter, who is studying abroad, to return to Nigeria, or else the pastor (Abraham) would make her commit an offence over there that would see her go to jail,” the source said.

The newspaper also obtained a WhatsApp conversation that backed up the source’s claim. It was the conversation that reflected what the pastor’s follower told her daughter.

“Daddy Abraham said I should tell you to come back, that he is the one who makes you to come down to Nigeria [sic] and I was the one who gave you the chance to return back there, that I should also know how you will come back [sic] or he will make you to commit an offence over there and they will put you in prison. That he probably send you down so you will achieve your goals [sic],” the chat read.

“Please Elizabeth, if there is how you will help yourself to come back, I will be glad [sic]. Don’t let daddy put any one of you in trouble.”

Another member of the church who is currently in camp in Ekiti said that Abraham’s campers still go about their normal businesses on regular days.

The follower also said “saved members” left their “past lives” behind in Kaduna to join the pastor in Ekiti on April 6. He confirmed that they would be at the camp with the pastor “until the day of rapture”.

According to the member, Abraham still holds regular church services on Sundays and Wednesdays.

“We are not coming back. I can’t explain in details,” the member said.

“We are going to make rapture from here. We are going to a heavenly place.”

Drama As Niger House Of Assembly Workers Set To Go On Strike Over Clothing Allowance

Parliamentary workers in Niger in Minna threatened to embark on a three-day warning strike beginning from Thursday over the non-payment of their outfit allowance.

The resolution was reached at the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria congress, chaired by its chairman Mohammed Sanusi.

Mr Sanusi said the decision followed the failure of the state government to pay the Consolidated Salary Structure of 2011 by the first quarter of 2022 as agreed with the association.

He explained that the House of Assembly complex would be shut down on Thursday and that nobody would be allowed into the building.

“We have three pending issues: the outfit allowance paid once a year, the approved consolidated salary structure and the non-payment of legislative duty allowance to some of our colleagues,’’ he said.

Mr Sanusi also mentioned that Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello approved a 50 per cent payment of outfit allowance in 2018 but had not paid the money.

According to him, while parliamentary workers have not received their entitlements, judiciary workers were fully paid.

Further, he stated that the names of some members of the association were deleted from the legislative duty allowance schedule.

The governor consequently approved the payment of 35 per cent of the allowance approved by the National Assembly Service Commission.

The workers warned that the government’s refusal to meet their demands within the period of the warning strike would lead to an indefinite strike.

Drama As Ibadan Student Hires Thug To Beat Up Teachers, Parents At PTA Meeting

The Oyo government has suspended a female student of Jericho High School, Ibadan, for hiring thugs to beat up parents and teachers during a PTA meeting.

The Commissioner for Education, Rahman Abiodun Abdu-Raheem, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Ibadan.

Mr Abdu-Raheem said the girl in the company of her mother recently invaded the school with thugs, assaulting a male student, teachers and other parents during a PTA meeting.

“The mayhem was said to be ignited by the girl’s mother and other accomplices, thereby causing tension in the school. The state government is taking further action to serve as a deterrent to other unguided parents and wards,” said the commissioner.

Mr Abdu-Raheem appealed for caution, pointing out that the Oyo government has zero-tolerance for impunity.

The commissioner also charged students, parents and other stakeholders to take advantage of Governor Seyi Makinde’s free qualitative education programmes rather than disrupt the state’s peace.

Drama As Kano Man Vows To Contest For APC Party’s National Women Leader Position

26 year-old male member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ameer Sarkee, is seeking to be elected the national women leader of the party.

According to report, this is not the first time Sakee will be eyeing a post exclusively reserved for a woman.

In 2019, he contested for the post of women leader in a Kwankwasiyya group – a group loyal to former governor of Kano Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The group has a larger followership within the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The Kano State polytechnic graduate lost on that occasion.

It is not clear when Ameer joined APC.

He, however, said he would not let himself be defeated this time around, saying he has experience dealing with women’s issues.

He promised that he would ensure that women’s voices are heard more in politics and governance if he becomes the national women chairperson in the APC.

“Ever since I was a child when I saw a woman in need of help I tried to help her – like helping them to carry their loads or buying them something – and that’s why I wanted to be the female leader of our party,” Sarkee told BBC.

“Some people ask me why I am running for the post and my answer is ‘God created men to guide the affairs of women,” Ameer told BBC Hausa. “So it is not a bad thing for me to want to lead women especially given that I mean well for them.”

Ameer said he hopes the women of the APC will agree to vote for him even though he is a man, saying his greatest challenge remains women who see him as stripping them of their positions.

“The biggest challenge I face is gaining the trust of women; some are jealous of seeing me lead them, others think I’m going to take what belongs to them but it’s not,” Ameer said.

In contrast to his fears, Ameer said, while he is face with challenges of being accepted by some women, some others are routing for his emergence as the APC national women chairperson.

“At the same time I am getting encouragement from women, even yesterday some women’s groups came to show their support for me and many of them are supporting me on social media,” Ameer said

Drama As Nigerian Court Invite Herbalist To Extract Confession From Three Murder Suspects In Adamawa

A court in Adamawa State has caused a mild drama after a herbalist was invited to cast a spell on three murder suspects in order to obtain confessional statements from them.

It was gathered that a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Song town, in the Song local government area, invited one Garkuwa Sarkin Mayu, who used charms to extract confessional statements from the suspects.

The accused are standing trial on alleged killing of a boy and torturing of one other for a period of one year by bewitchment.

The suspects, Mallam Yusuf, Samaila Adamu and Gaji Mallam Yusuf, had pleaded not guilty to bewitching and murdering a child.

Frustrated by their plea, the court invited a herbalist, one Sarkin Mayu, who asked the boy who was allegedly bewitched to lie down on the floor and ordered all the defendants to walk across him three times.

After they did as ordered, after which they started confessing that they actually bewitched the boy, but that they had removed whatever evil spell cast upon him already.

One Abubakar Umaru, had alleged that the accused persons entered his house in the year 2020, and bewitched three of his children Suleimanu, Nafisa and Yusuf, and that sometimes later, Yusuf, died.

He explained further that on October 30, 2021, he took one of his surviving children, Suleimanu, who had been sick for a year to Sarki Mayu who applied some herbs on him.

The boy thereafter started mentioning the names of the suspects.

He informed the court that he was left with no option than to sue them so as to restore the health of his child.

He therefore, urged the court to punish the suspects if found guilty, and that the court should order them to pay him the sum of N500,000, the amount he used in treating three of his children.

Following the confessional statements after the magician’s service, Chief Magistrate Abdulrazaq Adamu, issued a remand order and send the accused to a Yola correctional centre facility till November 9, 2021.

Commenting on the matter, a Yola based lawyer, Barr. Sunday Wugira, described the procedure as an abuse of court process.

Wugira informed that the law prohibits the use of magical powers or any fetish means to obtain statements. “This is called trial by ordeal.”

He furthered, “The position of the law is that anyone who represents himself to be in possession of charm which is intended to be used to compel any person to do an act which such a person has a legal right to refrain from doing, shall be punished as provided under section 186 paragraph (a) and (b) of the penal code law.”
