Lionel Messi believes he and his rival, Christiano Ronaldo will never share a close friendship because they do not get to spend enough time together to build the required bond.

Both award-winning football stars have shared a formidable rivalry throughout their La Liga careers but while Messi claims the alleged enmity is very much created by the media, he also admits he and Ronaldo are unlikely to ever consider one another friends, if only because they rarely get the time to speak.

Messi said: "I don't know if we will be. Friendship is built through spending time together and getting to know each other. We have no relationship, mainly because we only see each other at awards ceremonies and that's the only time we speak. Everything is fine, but our lives don't cross over very often."

Five times World Best Player and Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and his wife Antonella Roccuzzo who are expecting their third child, have revealed the sex of their baby.

Taking to Instagram, Roccuzzo appeared to announce to the world that their next child would be a boy after posting a birthday celebration for their eldest son Thiago, who recently turned five.

Roccuzzo wrote in Spanish: 'Happy Birthday Thiagui. Five years old. 'How big you are my love. I hope you're always this happy.'

She added a long hashtag referring to the couple's other son Mateo as Matu: #papimamimatuytuhnitoencamino #nopodemosamartemas.

The hashtag sentence in Spanish translates into English as 'Daddy and Mummy, Matu And Your Little Brother on the way, we cannot possibly love you anymore.'

The couple already has two sons, Thiago,5, and Mateo Messi, 2.
