Bola Tinubu React To Growing Numbers Presidential Aspirant Under APC

Presidential aspirant and former Lagos state governor, Bola Tinubu has described the growing number of people seeking the party’s presidential ticket as good for democracy.

Tinubu stated this after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to the national leader of the APC, having many presidential candidates is in the best interest of the country.

“The more the merrier. The more they come, the more challenging it becomes for you to think deeply, focus on issues and be ready to serve Nigeria,” he said.

“It’s all about service, it’s nothing else. Think wisely, get committed to your thinking to serve the nation and bring progress and prosperity to the lives of Nigerians.

“It’s good for the country for so many of us to aspire to want to lead, we’re not abandoning our nation. But there’s only one chair and one possibility. We will do that.”

The National leader of the APC further said the ruling party would remain intact and united after its presidential primary, noting that President Buhari has shown that he is in support of a transparent process.

“We are sure that we will remain united. You know our symbol is the broom, you don’t break it as you go. Nigeria requires commitment, a uniform system and a stable country and that is the only way we can be very proud of Nigeria.

“The president has shown a great example of leadership, gave us the freedom to say you want to run, you want to attempt, go ahead. He is a democrat and if we are running a constitutional democracy, you don’t hinder the desire, the wish of other people.”

Bola Tinubu broke the ice in January and declared his intention to run for the presidency when he visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Villa, Abuja.

We’re Mobilising 50,000 Rivers APC Members For You – APC Chieftain Tells Tinubu

Former chief of staff of the Rivers State Government House, Chief Tony Okocha, has said leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, were mobilising 50,000 members of the party for the emergence of former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate.

Okocha, who was the chief of staff during the administration of former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

He applauded the National Assembly on its decision on direct primaries for political parties in the country, saying that by that singular act, the federal lawmakers have taken the power back to the people.

The APC chieftain said: “We thank the National Assembly for approving that power should go back to the people. By their decision on direct primaries, they have naturally taken power back to the people.

“We are here to mobilise for Bola Ahmed Tinubu for 2023 and our mission is to mobilise a minimum of 50,000 APC supporters in Rivers State so that we will all participate in the primaries that will make him the candidate of the party and subsequently the president of Nigeria.

“All the groups that support Tinubu in Rivers State have agreed to coalesce together and we are working towards his emergence. All the groups met and agreed to coalesce all our interests because we are not going to do Tinubu one and Tinubu two.

“We are all working together to ensure that Tinubu becomes the candidate of APC first and foremost. Then, at the general election, we shall all go out and elect him as President of Nigeria.”

Okocha, who is also the coordinator of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Support Vanguard (BATSV) in Rivers State, described Tinubu as competent, experienced and detribalised leader.

He said, “We are supporting Tinubu because we know that he has a Midas touch. We know Tinubu is competent; we know he is experienced and we know that he is detribalised.

“If you have a nationalist like that, why won’t you support him? He has a track record of performance and we know that he is going to transform Nigeria as he did in Lagos State.”

Even Day Old Baby Knows You’re A Disgrace To Youths As Kogi Governor – Bola Tinubu’s Supporters Slam Yahaya Bello Over His Comment

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has been slammed by a support group for the National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu for asking him to drop his 2023 presidential ambition.

Bello’s suggestion attracted the outrage of the Tinubu Support Group which said Bello’s poor performance as governor was a betrayal of the Not-too-Young-to-Run campaign.

This was contained in a statement titled, ‘Your failure in governance has betrayed the Not-too-young-to-Run Campaign-TSG replies Yahaya Bello,’ which was signed by the Director- General of the TSG, Umar Ibrahim, in Abuja, on Sunday

The statement read, “All Nigerians can attest to the fact that Governor Bello of Kogi State is a disgrace to the Not-too-Young-to-Run campaign. How do we commit a great nation such as Nigeria to a so-called youthful governor who was given an opportunity to lead his state and he messed things up?

“It is on record that you, Governor Bello, remains the governor with the highest number of months of unpaid salaries, and nonperformance despite the huge sums of both internal and federally-generated revenues.

“We advise that you channel all your efforts into begging and praying for forgiveness for all the sufferings you have inflicted on the good people of Kogi state rather than eyeing the presidency.”

The group described Tinubu as the most qualified and competent candidate to succeed Buhari.

The outrage trails a recent interview Bello had in which he advised Tinubu to allow a youth to emerge as president.

Bello said the former Lagos State governor should take a back seat and allow youths he has groomed to rule Nigeria.

He, however, noted that though the APC National Leader has the right to contest in 2023, he should step back and allow the youths.

Bello stressed that Nigeria is not a Banana Republic that one or two persons can see as their personal properties.

He was quoted as saying: “Senator Tinubu is one of our leaders and I respect him so much. He has played a very significant role in Nigeria’s democracy and has built a lot of people.

“He has paid his dues, and with all respect, as a son to him, my simple advice is that it is time for him to allow his children to take over the mantle of leadership and do it to the glory of God and his admiration.

“He should see that those children he raised are now doing well. Let him see how we manage this country in his lifetime.

“However, he has a right to run, nobody is questioning that.

“Let me tell you that Nigeria is not a banana republic, which a committee of one or two persons will see as a personal estate or property.”

Drop Your Presidencial Ambition And Allow Younger Politician Succed Buhari – Governor Yahaya Bello Tells Bola Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu has been advised by Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State to drop his purported presidential ambition for younger politicians to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Tinubu, Although yet to declare for the 2023 presidency played a key role in the formation of the ruling party and victory of President Buhari in 2015, but many believes the body language of the former governor of Lagos state shows he may join the presidential race.

It is also believed in some quarters that there is an agreement within the ruling party that Tinubu would succeed President Buhari in 2023.

But Governor Bello in an interview said whatever agreeement Tinubu made with the president is not binding on members of the party.

Bello, who plans to announce his presidential ambition soon said Tinubu has paid his bellodues and should allow his children to take over in 2023.

“Senator Tinubu is one of our leaders and I respect him so much. He has played a very significant role in Nigeria’s democracy and has built a lot of people. He has paid his dues, and with all respect as a son to him, my simple advice is that it is time for him to allow his children to take over the mantle of leadership. And let us do it to the glory of God and his admiration. He should see that those children he raised are now doing well. Let him see how we would manage this country in his lifetime.

“He has a right to contest, nobody is questioning that. I always urge everybody to respect him for the roles he has played in this country’s democracy. He is a man of integrity, to be candid,” the governor said.

The governor also dispelled the idea that Tinubu may pull out of the party if he does not get the 2023 presidential ticket of the APC.

Bello said, “You don’t build a house and destroy it. I don’t think Tinubu would do that. I think he has grown past that. He is an elder statesman who will not say that the country should be destroyed in his lifetime, not even after his demise. So I don’t see him doing that. I don’t see that happening at all.

On his presidential ambition, Bello said he would give an affirmative answer to those mounting pressure on him to run for the presidency at the appropriate time.
