China Set To Take Over Uganda’s Only International Airport Over Debts

Chinese lenders, the Export-Import Bank of China, also known as Exim Bank, has taken over the Ugandan Entebbe International Airport and other assets in the country over the failure of the Ugandan government to repay a loan.

This came despite reports that President Yoweri Museveni had sent a delegation to Beijing for a renegotiation with the Chinese government over toxic clauses that exposed the East African country.

The Museveni-led Ugandan government had on Tuesday, 17 November 2015, signed an agreement with Exim Bank to borrow $207 million at two per cent upon disbursement.

The loan had a maturity period of 20 years including a seven-year grace period, but it had now appeared that the transaction signed with the Chinese lenders practically means Uganda “surrendered” its most prominent and only international airport.

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) revealed some provisions in the Financing Agreement with China that exposed Entebbe International Airport and other Ugandan assets to be attached and taken over by Chinese lenders upon negotiation in Beijing.

Uganda, however, sought to renegotiate the deal but the latest visits and pleas to alter the original terms with Chinese authorities were declined.

According to the Daily Monitor, the Ugandan government waived international immunity in the agreement it signed to secure the loans, exposing Entebbe International Airport to take over without international protection.

In desperation, Uganda in March 2021 sent a delegation to Beijing hoping to renegotiate the toxic clauses of the deal but the officials came back empty-handed as China would not allow the terms of the original deal to be varied.

Last week, Uganda’s Finance Minister, Matia Kasaija, apologised to parliament for the “mishandling of the $207 million loan” from the China Exim Bank to expand Entebbe International Airport.

Progress of works at the airport, built in 1972, has reached 75.2 per cent, with two runways having reached overall completion of 100 per cent.

Entebbe International Airport is Uganda’s only international airport and handles over 1.9 million passengers per year. Its seizure by China would greatly dent the legacy of the 77-year-old Museveni, who came to power on the back of an armed uprising in 1986, and expose him to election defeat.

Just Imagine!!! Parents Who Frequently Raped Their 12-year-old Daughter Said "better us than some maniac"

A mother and father who repeatedly raped their daughter are alleged to have told police "better us than some maniac"

The couple, both aged 35, turned their daughter into a "sex slave", according to Russian law enforcement. It is alleged that the girl was subjected to horrific and frequent sexual abuse from December 2016 to March 2017. The unnamed father is accused of raping the girl often with the mother in the same bed "every other day". The mother is also separately accused of sexually torturing the child with an artificial penis.

The mother told police she was raped when she was 13 and so she and her husband agreed to "train their daughter in advance for adult life".

"Better us than some maniac," the mother told her interrogators.

The crimes were uncovered when a doctor noticed problems with the young girl's periods and discovered that she was not a virgin. The child then told investigators about the sexual abuse she suffered. The couple then confessed to the horrific sexual abuse they inflicted on their child.

The parents have been accused of paedophilia and are facing trial. Ahead of the criminal trial, the parents have been stripped of their parental rights, meaning they will never raise their child and the girl has been taken into care.

They have been remanded in custody in Volgograd and if convicted face up to 20 years in jail.

Awwwww!!!! Parents Organize Photoshoot For 5years Old Girl Who Wants To Marry Her Best Friend Before Her 4th Heart Surgery

A 5-year-old girl, who has had 3 open heart surgeries and was getting ready for her fourth, wished to be a princess and marry her best friend before her next surgery, so her parents organized to make her dream come true.

Sophia Chiappalone has been through a lot in her short life and still has more to overcome. She was born with several heart defects and is scheduled for a fourth open heart surgery in January 2018. She has a best friend called Hunter Laferriere, 6, whom she first met in preschool.

As she prepared for her upcoming surgery, the little girl made it known she wanted to marry Hunter before that happens, so a family friend and pro photographer decided to make that happen by organizing a photoshoot with Sophia and Hunter in wedding attire. Hunter was informed about it and he happily played along and posed as the groom in the photo series.

Late last month, photographer Marisa Balletti-Lavoie of Sassy Mouth Photography did the faux wedding photo shoot at City Park in Meriden, Connecticut. A local bridal shop supplied a flower girl’s dress to be used as a wedding dress and a veil to complete Sophia’s look.

Sophia's heart condition keeps deteriorating by the day and her parents are worried this may be her only chance to ever wear a wedding dress.

Sophia’s mother, Kristy Somerset-Chiappalone, told ABC News: "I’m trying to be strong for Sophia. In reality, she’s slipping into heart failure more and more, and this might be the only time I ever see her in a wedding dress. That was going through my head."

The photos immediately went viral after they were shared and Hunter's mother has since set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise donations for Sophia’s medical treatments.
