IPOB, ESN Behind My Travails — Abba Kyari Cries Out

The embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has claimed that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) are behind his travails.

Kyari made this claim when he appeared before a probe panel led by Joseph Egbunike, a Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, according to a report obtained by Daily Trust.

In a report submitted by the panel to the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, which was in turn forwarded to the Police Service Commission (PSC), Kyari said the outlawed IPOB and its armed wing were after him  due to the onslaught launched against them in the South East.

Kyari, who did not deny violating social media rules of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), was berated by the panel for the fact that the officer had been warned against the same practice previously.

“It is a campaign to smear his reputation by members of IPOB/ESN who vowed to destroy him, due to his onslaught against them in the South East,” the embattled ‘super cop’ was quoted to have said in the report.

But the panel, which faulted his claim, saying it is watery, ordered his demotion from the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police to Assistant Commissioner of Police.

Efforts to reach the Police Service Commission to find out whether it jettisoned the report on Kyari proved abortive.

Several calls made across to the mobile phone of the commission’s spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, were unanswered. He also did he respond to a text message sent to him.

Similarly, the acting spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi, did not answer calls nor responded to text messages when Daily Trust sought clarifications on the allegations that the force wants to protect Kyari.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police and members of the Force Management Team, on Wednesday visited the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, in his office at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Abuja.

The reason for his visit, according to a senior officer, was not unconnected with Kyari’s case but the Force in a statement said the visit was aimed at solidifying the synergy between the Police and the Judiciary as key players in the Criminal Justice System of the nation with a view to ensuring a smooth and efficient dispensation of justice.

ESN Will Deal With Criminals Enforcing Sit At Home – IPOB

Self-determination group, Indigenous People of Biafra, has vowed to deploy operatives of its militia arm, Eastern Security Network, to arrest and punish criminals enforcing sit-at-home in the South East. According to the group, some politicians were working with security agents to unleash terror on innocent residents under the pretext of enforcing the canceled sit-at-home to give IPOB a bad name.

IPOB said this in reaction to reports that gunmen razed vehicles and shot sporadically into the air to disperse people in their quest to enforce Monday sit-at-home in Enugu.

In a statement by the group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, on Tuesday, IPOB said those enforcing the sit-at-home will have themselves to blame.

The group also called on governors in the region to provide adequate security for the people, so as to bring those who are enforcing sit-at-home to justice.

The statement reads, “The attention of the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra has been drawn to the senseless shooting in Enugu State on Monday by hoodlums and cultists recruited and sponsored by some politicians in the state who derive joy in spilling blood of their fellow citizens

“We have severally explained that IPOB has not authorised anybody to enforce Monday sit-at-home which has been suspended since September 19, 2021. Anybody unleashing sorrow on innocent citizens under the guise of enforcing sit-at-home order is a criminal and does not deserve pity.

“Despite the suspension of Monday sit-at-home since 19th of September 2021, some unscrupulous elements and criminals conniving with security agencies and our enemies have continued to inflict pain on our people. Their aim is to blackmail IPOB but they will continue to fail.

“Now, we want to inform our people to stand firm in the fight for their liberty. IPOB did not ask anybody to enforce sit-at-home of any kind. Henceforth, ESN operatives will come from the bushes and forests and go after these criminals unleashing mayhem on innocent people and visitors to Biafra land in the name of enforcing non-existent Monday sit-at-home order.

“We also ask Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to also deal decisively with any hoodlum using Monday sit-at-home to tortore innocent citizens/residents of the state. No genuine member of IPOB or ESN operative is involved in any enforcement of Monday sit-at-home order. Anybody doing so is working against Biafra restoration.

“We equally call on our people and members of the public to skin alive, any idiot caught inflicting sorrow on the people in the name of enforcing non-existent Monday sit-at-home order. Such evil soul and messenger of death doesn’t deserve to live.

Those shootingsporadically in the market are criminals and bandits using the name of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu and ESN to humiliate our people and demonise the movement. Their aim is to give the federal government excuse to hold our leader perpetually in detention.

“ESN operatives must be ready to confront criminals creating these problems in the name of ESN and IPOB in the region.  We have suspended Monday sit-st-home long time ago, and we have not rescinded that decision.  Biafrans must be strong to withstand our enemies and their collaborators every Monday.

“IPOB was not formed to terrorise people.  We remain peaceful and focused on the pursuit of Biafra freedom and independence.

“Governor Ugwuanyi and other Governors in the region must provide security for our people on Mondays because ESN is now ready to confront these criminals.

“Nobody should link IPOB or ESN with these bunch of crimial acts in our region and those enforcing non-existent Monday sit-at-home order. How can we stop sit-at-home and turn around to compel people to observe it? IPOB are not hypocrites and we must come out victorious.

“The media should stop linking IPOB and ESN with the criminals behind this sad development. They are not our members and  we can never accommodate these kind of criminals in our movement and family of IPOB

Federal Government Accuse Boko Haram, Bandits, ISWAP, IPOB, Yoruba Nation Agitators For Food Scarcity

Federal government has blamed Boko Haram, ISWAP, bandits, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Yoruba Nation agitators for increasing food scarcity across Nigeria.

Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, says the prevalence of these groups has adversely affected food security thereby posing a new dimension of threats to the country.

“Regrettably, the prevalence of these threats has continued to endanger not only national security and economic growth but also food security.

“In particular, food security has been adversely affected with the attendant rise in the prices of foodstuff across the country which portends a new dimension of threat,” he said.

Mr Magashi said this at the opening of a retreat for Defence Advisers/Attaches Conference, organised by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) on Monday in Abuja.

He said the attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP in the North-East and banditry and herder/militia in the North-West and Central posed serious threats to Nigeria.

According to him, states in the South-South region are plagued with illegal oil bunkering, piracy and militancy while the South-East is challenged with secessionist activities of IPOB.

He added that the South-West region is equally faced with secessionist inclination driven by ethnic agitators as well as occasional tension between herders and farmers.

Mr Magashi called for collaboration between the security agencies to “come up with innovative ways of identifying and confronting” these challenges.

The minister said this was necessary in order to “create an enabling atmosphere for economic activities to thrive and to attract Foreign Direct Investment.”

I Don’t Want To See You Around During Buhari’s Visit – Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma Warns IPOB

As all plans to welcome president Buhari to Imo state have been perfected, governor of the state, Hope Uzodinma has warned members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to steer clear off during the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari slated for Thursday.

The president is expected to commission some projects implemented by the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma.

IPOB has already issued directive to its members and supporters not to participate in the president’s visit by declaring a sit-at-home order on Thursday, adding that the president is not wanted in any part of South-East region.

But the Commissioner for information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, who spoke to journalists in Owerri on Wednesday, warned that no person should dare the resolve of the government to give the president a befitting reception.

He said, “I have not heard of any sit-at-home by any group. I think the one I heard is the one that said they want their leader released and will be protesting any day he appears in court.

“However, we are talking of a presidential visit. The president is visiting Imo and we will do everything to give a befitting reception. We have made every security arrangement in this regard and I assure you that Imo people are enthusiastic about the visit.”

Emelumba described the president’s visit as unique as this is the first time he’s visiting the state officially.

The Commissioner said residents of the state were so enthusiastic to receive the president and traders were eager to demonstrate their enthusiasm by closing all markets on Thursday.

He disclosed that the president would be commissioning four projects among which is the Ihiagwa – Nekede Road, Balloon technology-driven underground tunnel with surface drainage at Chukwuma Nwoha road, Naze/ Nekede/Ihiagwa Road, the Egbeada By-Pass and the newly built ultramodern executive chambers.

IPOB Are Not Struggling For Freedom, Rather Committing Acts Of Terrorism, To Steal Money – President Buhari Says

President Muhammadu Buhari has described members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as thieves promoting terrorism in the country.

The president said this in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Sunday, August 30, in Abuja.

According to NAN, the president said, “Further afield in the South-East, IPOB are not struggling for freedom when they attack police stations and property, but rather committing acts of terr*rism, to steal money.

IPOB is not defending Christians, as their highly paid foreign lobbyists claim when almost every citizen of those states they terrorize is uniformly Christian.

Nigerians need to unite against those who seek to divide us for their own nefarious financial and political gain.”

"Is Biafra now a zoo": Festus Keyamo Reacts To Nnamdi Kanu's Sack By IPOB

Lawyer, Festus Keyamo has reacted to the announcement that IPOB has sacked Nnamdi Kanu as the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

The announcement that Kanu has been removed as the Director of Radio Biafra was made by the radio station on Sunday. Festus Keyamo has now reacted to the news via his Twitter account. In a single tweet, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria mocked the group and wondered about the authenticity of their initial claim that Kanu had been killed by the Army.

He wrote: "So, after IPOB earlier claimed the Army killed Kanu, did they wake him from d grave to ask him questions over allegations against him before sacking him as their leader? Or did they sack him without hearing from him? Would that not be the style of animals in a zoo? Is Biafra now a zoo?"
