34 Years Old Nigerian Arrested, Commits N120 Million Fraud Using Opay, Moniepoint

 

Details had emerged as the Bauchi State Police Command arrested 34-year-old Glory Samuel for allegedly defrauding a businessman of N120m.

According to a press statement by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, on Wednesday, the arrest stems from a complaint filed on April 1, 2024, regarding suspicious withdrawals totaling N2,068,000 from a complainant’s company bank account.

Wakil said, “Acting under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, the State Intelligence Department promptly investigated the case.

“Their meticulous efforts revealed that the suspect had unlawfully withdrawn a significant amount of N120m from the complainant’s bank account.”

The PPRO added, “During interrogation, Glory Samuel admitted to betraying the trust of his neighbour with whom he had shared a market space for over 15 years.

“Samuel disclosed that a friend he had met at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi in 2011, before dropping out of Computer Science, convinced him that he could make money by accessing a wealthy individual’s phone. Exploiting the complainant’s trust, Samuel deceitfully borrowed the phone, allowing his accomplice to install financial applications such as Opay and MoneyPoint.

Breaking: AIT Chairman, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Arrested By UK Police

 

Chairman of DAAR Communications Chief Raymond Dokpesi has been arrested by the UK Scotland Yard.

 

He was picked up on Sunday at Terminal 2 of Heathrow Airport in London.

A reliable source who was on the same flight confirmed the arrest to Whistler.

The source said: “We were on a flight from Frankfurt to London, and as we were about to arrive in London, we were informed that we should all stay on our seats when the aircraft lands…

And that the police wanted to do something. We were informed that there would be a police operation.

So when we landed, the police came in and asked, “Who is Raymond Dokpesi?” and they have taken him away. He was wearing an agbada. “He was arrested in London.” The source concluded.

Dokpesi, according to findings would appear in court on Monday for remand.

Father, 62, and son, 19, Arrested For Gang Raping, Impregnating His Biological Daughter

 


A 62-year-old man, Kehinde Adeleke and his 19-year-old son, Ayomide, have been arrested by police operatives from the Gender Section of the Lagos State, for alleged gang-rape of his biological daughter, who is equally a blood sister to Ayomide and she became pregnant in the process.

It was reported that the incident happened at Enelu Danisa Street, Ijeshatedo area of Lagos, where they reside. After the suspects were arrested, the condition of the victim became much complicated following the medical test conducted, which showed that she was pregnant and cannot ascertain who between her father and the brother who actually was responsible.

The Police alleged that the man, Kehinde and the victim’s biological brother, Ayomide, conspired and engaged her in the act and it was concealed until she became pregnant. She then opened up and revealed what happened.

The matter was reported to the Police in the area and they were arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for further investigation over their conduct. After thorough interrogation, the Police found them culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment if found guilty before the Court.

However, when they were arraigned, the Court did not take their plea after the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, moved a motion asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the alleged offence was a capital offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered their remand in custody at Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, without option of bail pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice while she directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice. The matter was adjourned till 20th December, 2022, for mention for the report of DPP”s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred.

Further report says he's arrest is connected to him not showing up at a concert he was billed and paid for.



In a viral video making the rounds on social media shows when the "Buga" singer was being escorted into the police vehicles  wearing a hoodie  jacket.

Four Police Officer Arrested For Killing A Vigilante Member In Edo State

  

Edo state police commissioner, CP Abutu Yaro has ordered the arrest and detention of four operatives of the  Edo police Command and a couple for their alleged involvement in the killing of a vigilante member, Ikponwonsa Aikpitanyi at Obaze Street, off Ewah Road, in Benin, the state capital.

The 27-year-old Aikpitanyi, a member of the local vigilante group at Obaze Street, off Ewah Road, in Benin, was allegedly shot dead on Friday night by one of the operatives for allegedly preventing a woman, Rose Sunday, from dumping refuse in a moat in the neighborhood.

The detained operatives are Inspr. Igere Victor, Sgt. Umhenin Stanley, Sgt. Okongor Ojong and Cpl. Monday Joel while the arrested couple was identified as Mr. & Mrs. Sunday Egboh.

A statement by the Edo Police Command’s spokesman, SP Kontongs Bello, noted that CP Yaro received the news with great shock and described the action of the team as unacceptable and unprofessional.

He said the Command under his watch will not condone acts of misconduct that are inimical to the peace and safety of law abiding citizens of Edo State.

12 Suspected Terrorists Arrested, Recover 40 Rustled Cattle In Katsina

 

The Police in Katsina State have arrested at least 12 suspected terrorists, armed robbers, vandals and other criminals in the state.

A victim of kidnap was also rescued in the process while 40 of his rustled cattle were recovered.

The Police Spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed this to journalists on Thursday, while parading the suspects before the command headquarters in Katsina.

He told journalists that at about 01:00hrs on March 20, terrorists stormed the residence of one Sada Kotoko (70yrs) at Barkiya village in Kurfi LGA of the state, kidnapped him and rustled 40 of his cows.

On receiving the report, operatives from the command responded swiftly and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel, thereby rescuing the kidnapped victim and recovering all the rustled cattle.

Some of the terrorists, however, escaped into the forest with bullets wounds.

In another operation on March 7, 2022, the command said it arrested an informant to the bandits, identified as Salisu Halilu, who had been terrorising Kurfi, Safana and Dutsinma LGAs respectively.

In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to committing the offence and further stated that he conspired with one (1) Yellow Auta Ring Leader (2) Babayye (3) Ado Tsoho (4) Sannu and other gang members now at large to rustle over 100 cows belonging to one (1) Malan Umme (2) Ali ‘m of Dagarawa village (3) Kabiru ‘m’ of Yar Barza village (4) Sule and others at Kudawa village of Kurfi LGA,” the statement read in part.

The suspect further confessed to being part of the terrorists that kidnapped one Alhaji Ibrahim Bello and receiving compensation of N100,000.

In yet another operation on March 12, SP Isah said the command succeeded in arresting a notorious thief, shop breaker and a vandal, Abubakar Saadu.

“Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he was arrested in Batsari town attempting to vandalise and steal away armoured cable wires from an MTN mobile telecommunication network mast located at Unguwar Dutsinma.

“In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to having conspired with one (1) Soja, now at large in carrying out this nefarious activity. He further confessed to have carried out series of other crimes of theft and vandalisation across the town,” the statement read

Couple Arrested For Selling Their One-month Old Baby For N50, 000



A couple residing at Ilara area of Ode Remo, in Remo North local government area of Ogun state has been arrested by men of Ogun State police command for allegedly selling their one-month-old baby at the rate of fifty thousand naira.


The suspects, Eze Onyebuchi and his wife Oluchi Eze were arrested on the 16 of December 2021, following a piece of information received by policemen at Ode Remo divisional headquarters, that the couple who live at Ayegbami street Ilara Remo willingly sold their one-month-old baby to a woman who is now at large.


Upon the information, the Dpo Ode Remo division, CSP Olayemi Fagbohun, detailed his detectives to the area where the couple was arrested and brought to the station.


Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said on interrogation, the suspects explained to the police that, it was one Mrs. Ruth Obajimi, who directed the yet to be identified buyer to them. They stated further that the woman came to them on the 14th of December 2021, and told them that she is from a human rights office and that she will help them to foster their child. The woman then gave them the sum of fifty thousand nairas and they handed over the baby to her despite not knowing her from Adam.


Abimbola said efforts are in top gear to apprehend the said woman with the view to recover the baby.


He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the anti-human trafficking and child labor unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation. He equally directed a massive manhunt for the buyer who has since took to flight.

Update: Police Arrest Fleeing Housemaid Over Alleged Murder Of Ex-governor Lucky Igbinedion’s Mother




Edo State Police Command has arrested a housemaid, Dominion Okoro in connection with the ‘murder’ of Madam Maria Oredola Igbinedion, mother of a former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion.


The 85-year-old woman was allegedly strangled by the suspect at her residence in Ugbor, GRA, Benin-City, the State capital.


It was further learnt that the maid who hailed from Cross River state, ransacked the deceased’s home for her jewelries and money, and carted them all away after she allegedly killed her.


According crime correspondent Festus Alenkhe, the suspect was arrested on Tuesday December 15, 2021 in Calabar, the capital of Cross River state, by a combined tactical team of the Nigerian Police.


She is currently being held at the Edo State Police headquarters in Benin City.

Owner Of Oduduwa University, Ramon Has Been Arrested By Police Over Ritual Killing Of OAU Student

 



The police have arrested Oduduwa University owner Ramon Adedoyin over the death of Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student of the Obafemi Awolowo University.


Mr Adedoyin owns Hilton Hotel and Resort, a facility Mr Adegoke lodged.


Mr Adegoke lodged in the hotel on November 5 to sit his examinations at the OAU distance learning centre in Moro, Osun.


The student was declared missing two days after he lodging into the hotel and was later found dead.


The police command in Osun said in a statement that it had arrested six people linked to Mr Adegoke’s death.


A police spokeswoman in Osun, Yemisi Opalola, announced Mr Adedoyin was arrested on November 15.


According to the statement, Mr Adedoyin is undergoing interrogation in connection with the case while the police await an autopsy report from the hospital.


The command commended the public, especially the bereaved family, students, and OAU authorities, for their patience to allow the police to conduct a thorough investigation on the matter.

Adamawa State Officials Arrested For Stealing UNICEF School Bags

 


Some Offcials of the Local Education Authorities in Adamawa have been arrested for diverting school bags donated by UNICEF to pupils in the state.


Joel Isiah, UNICEF’s Education in Adamawa has raised alarm over diversion of learning materials donated to schools in the state.


Dr Salihi Ateequ, chairman of the state Universal Basic Education Board confirmed the arrest of 10 staff of the Authorities at a news conference on Wednesday in Yola.


Mr Ateequ said the board would not rest until all the erring personnel were brought to book, adding that efforts were being made to apprehend more suspects in connection with diversion of the bags.


“A high level committee was constituted and the committee has done its job very well.


“Arrests in respect of the sale of the UNICEF school bags have been made in Michika, Mubi South, Hong, and Yola North Local Government Areas of the state.


“Ten suspects were found wanting and had been charged to court,” he said.


This, he said, would serve as a deterrent to others and guard against diversion of school bags and learning materials donated by the UN agency.

Wife Arrested For Planning To Kidnap Her Husband Because He Is Stingy



Police operatives in Ogun State have arrested a housewife, identified as Memunat Salaudeen, for allegedly planning to kidnap her husband.


The suspect was arrested alongside her accomplices, Olayinka Lawal, Asungba Nura and Usman Oluwatoyin, on Monday evening, November 1.


They were arrested along Papa/Itori road by a patrol team on stop and search duty. According to the police, the three accomplices were on a motorcycle when they were stopped because of their suspicious look.


The team searched them and found a cutlass and a newly acquired rope in their possession. They were consequently separated and questioned on what they planned to use the cutlass and rope for. The three of them gave conflicting statements.


They questioned them further and that was when they revealed their plan for the kidnap. They stated that a lady by the name Memunat Salaudeen gave them a sum of N8,000 to buy a cutlass and rope for the operation.


They also revealed that the woman, who is a nurse in their area at Balogun Tuntun Gas line Ifo, ordered them to hide somewhere while she lure her husband and they will go ahead to kidnap him and ask for ransom.


Salaudeen, who confessed to the crime, told the policemen that her husband has not been given her money and that she decided to plan his kidnapping in order to get money from him at all cost.

Notorious Armed Robber Man Arrested In Ibadan And Stripped Naked



An suspected member of a notorious robbery gang, Ayomide Adebayo, was apprehended after allegedly robbing an eatery in Akobo, General Gas area of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital. 


It was gathered that a three-man gang had stormed the eatery on Wednesday, September 8, dispossessed the owner and customers of their cash, phones, other valuables. 


Luck, however, ran out on them when one of the staff resisted their attempt to pack the money in the safe box. As he was struggling with them one of them escaped and joined the motorcyclist that was already waiting outside while the other one was caught and some items recovered from him.

A comedian, Gabriel Uzoma, reportedly escaped asasination attempt after his jilted lover, Victory Kelechi Joseph, 20, allegedly hired suspected armed robbers in Military uniforms, who invaded his house in Lagos to kill him.


PM Express reports that the incident happened at Uwagboe Street, Ipaja area of Lagos, where Uzoma resides with his friends.


According to the residents, Uzoma narrowly escaped the onslaught because he did not return home that day but his friends, found in his house identified as Emmanuel Eldon and Austine Alfred, were brutally attacked at gun point.


The armed men reportedly invaded the house to attack Uzoma but when they did not find him, they damaged the television, carted away two laptops, Canon camera including money belonging to Uzoma to the tune of N555,000.


Kelechi, who was later trailed to her hideout and arrested by the police, reportedly admitted to engaging four armed men in uniform. She said after the operation she was given N20,000 out of the loot.


According to the victim, after they broke up, Kelechi had pleaded to live with him because she did not want to live with her parents and her sister. He, however, refused because his friend was already living with him.


He said she also pleaded with him to give her a role in his comedy show, which he obliged. However, on the day the comedy show will take place, Kelechi was late and her role was given to another person to perform, which led to serious disagreement between them.

Breaking: Former Aide To Goodluck Jonathan, Kingsley Kuku Arrested In Amsterdam Over Child Pornography




Kingsley Kuku, who was Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs has been arrested in Amsterdam, The Netherlands over child pornography complaints.


According to report, Kuku reportedly circulated child pornography materials in 2018.

The former Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme was arrested on Wednesday at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, while on his way to London, United Kingdom

“Kingsley Kuku was arrested in Amsterdam,” a top government source says

“His warrant was executed over child pornography complaints. He was arrested on his way to London four days ago

“He has been fighting his extradition after his arrest at Schiphol. He was coming from Accra, Ghana with a layover at Schiphol.

“He reportedly circulated child pornography in 2018.”

Kuku was elected as member of Ondo State House of Assembly and became the Chairman of the House Committee for a period of four years.

In January 2011, he was appointed Special Adviser to former President Jonathan on the Niger Delta and Chairman, Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme.

Breaking! Nigerian Government Arrest IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu

The Federal Government has arrested the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami(SAN), who made the disclosure to journalists on Tuesday, revealed that Kanu was arrested and brought back to Nigeria on Sunday.

He said the arrest followed a collaborative effort between security agencies in Nigeria and Interpol.



Malami further disclosed that Kanu would be taken before the Federal High Court in Abuja for the continuation of his trial on charges bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, unlawful possession of firearms and management of an unlawful society.

Police Inspector Arrested For Runrunning And Renting Riffles To Criminals In Cross River State

 


The Cross River State Police command has arrested one of its personnel, Inspector Nathaniel Manasseh, over alleged gunrunning and renting his riffles to notorious criminals. 


The Inspector, who was paraded alongside other suspects at the state police headquarters in Diamond Hill, Calabar, on Tuesday, June 22, was involved in gunrunning in Cross River and Imo State and had not been able to account for some arms including two AK-47 riffles.


Briefing newsmen, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sikiru Akande, urged residents of the state to assist the police with useful information that could aid in the arrest of criminals.


"Cross River is regaining its lost glory in the area of security. As a matter of fact, we remain the most peaceful state in Nigeria and nothing can break out our resolve. For our achievement, today is not unconnected with corporation enjoyed by well meaningful citizens, critical security stakeholders and corporate bodies that meets regularly to reevaluate our performance so far and the need for improvement that has led to what you are seeing today," Akande stated.


"I want to equivocally state clear that for the police to function effectively and efficiently in any developed society requires citizen’s participation, collaborative partnership and willingness of the community to constantly equip the police with useful information that can forestall unpleasant occurrence,"


The CP revealed that amongst those apprehended include an Inspector of Police, who usually gives out his riffles on “rent” to notorious criminals and is a member of a gun running syndicate.


Speaking to newsmen, the Inspector denied being a gunrunner, claiming that he was charmed and dispossessed of some AK-47s, including a vehicle.


"I was charmed. I can't really explain what happened and how they dispossessed me of the riffles. I am not a gunrunner." he said.

Two Notorious Kidnappers Arrested In Benue



 A local vigilante group in Otukpo, Benue state have arrested two suspected members of a notorious five man kidnapping and robbery gang that have been terrorising residents.


 The suspects, Abubakar Usman, 23 and Usman Sani, 25, were arrested at different locations around Otukpo on Wednesday morning, May 12, following intels volunteered by some members of the public who wish to remain anonymous. They were later handed over to the police.


According to the Police, the two confessed to have participated in robberies and kidnappings which took place recently in Otukpo. Some of their victims have also come forward to identified them.


 


Reacting to the development, the Chairman of Otukpo Local Government, Rt. Hon. George Alli, said the arrest of these suspects is a welcome development.


 "I am particularly happy about the positive responses from residents after the security summit which we held on 30th April," he stated.


"You could recall that the common language used during the security/stakeholders meeting, beginning from AIG Wilson Inalegwu Rtd, to the other speakers was; "If you see something, say something". I am glad that our people are responding positively to that call."


The Chairman assured residents of Otukpo and its environs of the commitment of his administration to fighting all forms of criminality and reduce crime rate to its bareest minimum.

See Photo:Four Women Arrested For Selling Newborn Baby For N1.5m






Officials of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) have arrested four women for allegedly selling a newborn for N1,500,000.

The women were paraded before newsmen on Thursday, September 3. According to NAPTIP officials, two of the women, Bernadette Ihezuo and Cecilia Onyema, are civil servants with the Federal Ministry of Finance Abuja, and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, respectively. The third suspect, Okasi Ekeoma, is said to be Onyema’s sister, while the fourth suspect is the baby’s grandmother Harrieth Nmezi who resides in Imo state.

According to NAPTIP officials, the teenage girl got pregnant while staying with her mother who then took her to Onyema's residence where she lived until she delivered her baby. Immediately after delivery, the other women took the child from the young mother and sold off the baby.

They were arrested following a tipoff received by some members of the public.


The baby has been rescued while the suspects have confessed to the crime and will be arraigned in court soon.

Five suspected hoodlums were on Saturday, December 28th arrested by operatives of Edo State Police Command for allegedly invading the family house of the Deputy Governor of the State, Philip Shaibu.
