Road To 2023 Election: 23 Persons Slump Pro-Tinubu Rally In Kano

At least 23 persons were reported to have slumped among the crowd that generated gridlock during the Permanent Voter Cards’ walk show organised in Kano State by the North-West Tinubu/Shettima campaign support group on Sunday.

The one-million-man march, which took place in Kano on Sunday, started from the Emir’s palace in the ancient city and reached its climax at the Government House cenotaph roundabout where Governor Abdullahi Ganduje received the support group.

The march saw many performances by power bike riders, horse riders, musicians, men and women cladded in different attires depicting the political party.

First aid workers and security officers were busy ensuring the safety of those present and managing the traffic which brought most parts of the city to a standstill.

Addressing newsmen at the event, the Director of the Group, Bappa Babba-Danagundi, expressed excitement over the successful conduct of the rally, describing Tinubu’s candidacy as a done deal in Kano.

“I thank the Almighty God for the successful conduct of this event which shows how people have accepted and responded to our mobilisation activities for the success of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the coming 2023 general election.

“It is clear that the Tinubu presidency in Kano is a done deal,” he declared.

South- South APC Lawmakers Endorse Yahaya Bello For President For 2023 Presidential Election

Forum of members of state Houses of Assembly in the South-South zone of the country on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress has endorsed governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for Presidency in 2023.

The legislators decided to stress the support of the zone separately, in Calabar, a few days after APC legislators from all zones declared their support for the governor and also passed a vote of confidence in the chairman of the party’s Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.

Rising from its extraordinary meeting held in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, on Monday, the forum pointed out that it would be the best decision for the leadership of APC to zone the presidency to North-Central in the spirit of fairness and justice.

The legislators, elected by the people of Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Rivers states, agreed that the North-Central had been marginalised since the nation gained Independence, adding that allowing it to produce the next president would be fair.

The lawmakers commended President Buhari for his purposeful leadership and also eulogised governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, for promptly connecting the state to the centre and for being the first in the South- South geopolitical zone.

They passed a vote of confidence in the Buni-led Caretaker Committee, pointing out that it had helped in no small way to grow the party and attract eminent Nigerians into its fold.

A communique issued by the forum read,“That the APC State Assembly Legislators thank His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Professor (Sir) Ben Ayade for promptly connecting the state to the centre and for, indeed, being the first in the South-South geopolitical zone.

“That the APC State Assembly Legislators of the South- South, who were elected by the people of the six states that make up the geopolitical zone believe that the best thing for our party as we approach the 2023 general elections is to give room for marginalised zones to produce the next president. Consequently, we appeal to the national leadership of our party, the APC, to zone the presidency to North-Central for fairness and sense of belonging to prevail.

“We hereby state that we agree to support our colleagues in the North-Central to contest for the position of the president of Nigeria in 2023 – which is a position that the zone had hitherto been deprived of since Nigeria became independent in 1960.

“That the APC State Assembly Legislators of the South- South commended President Muhammadu Buhari (GFCR) for his purposeful leadership and urge him to continue his good works toward turning the country around for good.

“That the APC State Assembly Legislators of the South-South commended the Governor Mai Mala Buni Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee for its hard work in ensuring the consistent growth of the party, which has attracted thousands of eminent Nigerians into the party.”

“That we have painstakingly brainstormed on the political developments in our party, the All Progressives Congress, vis-a-vis the need for Nigeria to chart a course to a more secure and prosperous country and have therefore decided to throw our weight behind the presidential bid of the governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.”

Ogun State Youth Charge VP OSinbajo To Run For President In 2023 Election

A Caolition of youth in Ogun state under the aegis of Ogun youth network has called on Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, to contest for the Presidency in 2023.

The group argued that Osinbajo, having worked closely with President Muhammadu Buhari in the last six years, remains the best candidate to succeed Buhari, in order to carry on with the policies and programmes of the administration.

The Chairman of the Ogun Youth Network, Oluwagbenga Odumosu made the call on Friday, while addressing newsmen, alongside members of the group, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Odumosu noted that Osinbajo has what it takes to govern Nigeria because of his “competence, experience, fairness, youth friendliness and open-mindedness”, saying that the group had zeroed in on Osinbajo after a critical review of the present state of the nation and those aspiring for the presidential seat.

He said  “The diligence and exceptional transformation we always experience in the country whenever President Mohammed Buhari is not around and his been given privilege to act as the President showed he is capable to transform this nation if given the chance. His rich profile isn’t just a make-up, but one with high pedigree and as such considering that he’s more qualified”.

“There is no doubt that we need someone who has what it takes to calm the tribal and religious crises we are experiencing in the country. One man who has shown that he has the capacity is Prof. Yemi Osinbajo because he has proved over the years that he is neither tribal bigotry nor a religious fanatics”.

“He is always open to all sides without any sentiment which is borne out of his profession. Despite being a pastor, he had continually promoted religious tolerance and harmony in the country”.

“The points highlighted are few out of many reasons we are calling on the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to please throw his hat into the ring to contest for the President  come 2023. As we do not need a soothsayer to tell us that Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is the beacon of hope for the Nigeria future.”

He alleged that some political jobbers “are trying to tarnish the image of the Vice President because they know it won’t be a business as usual if he emerges as President.”

The Chairman said, “We must sound a note of warning to some perpetual political jobbers in the South West who are planning to defame the vice president despite his unblemished antecedents, we can only warn then to desist as it won’t be business as usual for them as the progressive youths in the country won’t stop at nothing to fight and stop them.”

For Wishing Nigeria To Have Someone Like Buhari In 2023, You Need To Check Your Brain – PDP Tells Eboyin Governor

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State says that anyone wishing Nigerians to have Muhammadu Buhari’s kind as the next President of Nigeria come 2023 needs his psyche to be reexamined.

The PDP Chairman, Elder Fred Udeogu, disclosed this while reacting to a statement credited to the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, where he said God would give Nigeria a president “who has a good heart like President Muhammadu Buhari” in 2023.

Reacting, the PDP chairman stated that Buhari’s home state governor, Aminu Bello Masari, and other notable northern leaders already acknowledged the government had failed Nigerians, while Umahi was playing to the gallery.

He said, “If it is true that the governor said such thing in Abuja, not in Ebonyi State, that someone who is like President Muhammad Buhari should become the next President of Nigeria come 2023, it is his own personal opinion.

“He is not our spokesperson, we elected some persons to go to Abuja and speak for us, not until then, he shouldn’t speak for us but if at all he said that, well, he is free to speak his mind because that is what his mind told him to say and he has said it. And nobody can change what he has said.

“The governor said what his spirit told him to say but I don’t know how many families in this country will pray for us to have a kind of person like President Buhari as the next President of Nigeria. Really I don’t know.

“Whichever way it goes, even his own people from the state, I don’t know how many people can come out today to open their mouth and say, Yes, we had it so good since the last six years the present federal government came to power.

“Is it the level of borrowing, is it the level of economic stagnation. Is it the level of frustration, do you know the level of crimes as well as suicide people have committed in this country? And somebody is saying this.

“It is just the elected people, especially the governors and few others who are in the government that can say yes, that things are moving well, outside that, things are not the way it’s supposed to be.

“His (Buhari) own people and brothers are saying that the man at the helm of affairs is not doing well but you that are down here (Umahi) are saying that he is doing well; well his psyche needs to be reexamined.”

You’re Not Fit To Run For 2023 Presidency – PDP Group Tells Atiku Abubakar

Former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has been told by a group name “People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Action 2023” to off his intentions to run for the post of president come 2023

The group accused Atiku of abandoning the party after he lost the 2019 presidential election to the candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress.

They accused the former vice president of fleeing to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) immediately the election was concluded and left the party with its affairs.

Although, Atiku has not yet declared his intention to re-contest in 2023, his son, Adamu Atiku Abubakar has confirmed that his father would contest again.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the group, Hon. Rufus Omeire on Wednesday, said in Abuja, that it was an act of betrayal for Atiku to have left the party and his supporter after the 2019 election adding that Atiku should give the younger generation the chance to contest the election.

He said, “It is a betrayal of trust for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to neglect the feelings and sacrifices of ordinary voters who supported him and PDP in 2019.

“Now the 2023 elections are at hand, he has returned and started politicking once again. Apparently, the only thing he is very good at, is politics.

“We think that time has come for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, to step aside and allow others, preferably the younger generation, to step forward.”
