Alhaja Sikirat Odumosu Rescued as Police Recover N100M Ransom in Ogun State”

The Nigerian police forces have neutralized the kidnappers who abducted Alhaja Sikirat Odumosu, the wife of former Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu, in Arepo, Ogun State.

The rescue mission, which took place in Ogun State, also resulted in the recovery of the ransom money that had been demanded for her release.

This was announced by the Police Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi on his official X handle on Thursday.

He said the IGP praised the efforts of the Police Operatives and CP Lanre Ogunlowo of Ogun State for their commendable work.

”The IGP has commended the Police Operatives and CP Ogun State, Lanre Ogunlowo, for a good job. We are committed to safeguarding Nigerian citizens and our dear country.”

Recall that The wife of AIG Odumosu was kidnapped on the evening of January 16, 2025, in her residence in the Ijebu-Ode area of Ogun State.

The kidnappers, armed and ruthless, demanded a ransom of N100 million for her safe release.

Ex Governor Of Ondo State, Mimiko Join APC

 

Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Former governor of Ondo state, has reportedly joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to report, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, the news of his crossing to APC was confirmed by political commentator, Dr. Akin Awodeyi-Akinsehinwa in an interview with Starnews NG on Monday night.

Report gathered that the former governor, popularly known as Iroko made it official to the leaders of the ruling APC at midnight.

Although, there are no official statement as at the time of this report. Official declaration is expected anytime from now.

Sad— 3 Dies As Building Collapse In Ondo State



Three women have reportedly died after a dilapidated building collapsed on them at Arakale area of Akure, the Ondo State State capital. 

The women, said to be fish sellers at the popular Oja Oba market, were reportedly sitting under the building when it fell on them.

According to the Nation, the women were said to be hiding from a task force of the Fish Sellers Association of Nigeria.

It was gathered that some workers hired to pull down the building were at site working when it collapsed on the women.

One of the victims identified as Dorcas Ajayi was said to have been hiding her wares from Union task force because she owed the sum of N1000.

Her husband who gave his name as Ajayi said his wife’s goods would have been seized which made her to hide them in the building. 

Mr Ajayi said he was working in his farm when he was called that something had happened to his wife.

The deceased's son, Segun, blamed the workers carrying out demolition of the building for the death of his mother.


Meanwhile, the death of the women made other fish sellers to lead a protest to the Ondo Governor’s office.

The protesters demanded immediate disbandment of the Fish Sellers Association for inflicting hardship on them instead of solving their problems.

.They claimed that the deceased was barred from buying her fish from any cold room in Akure because she was yet to pay her the balance N1000 fee for purchase of registration form.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who addressed the protesters through his Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, said the state government would investigate the incident.


Following the incident, Governor Akeredolu ordered for suspension of all activities of the Fish sellers union in the state.

Seven Police Officers Killed By Gunmen In Rivers State


The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the death of seven officers during attacks by gunmen in the state on Friday night May 7.

In a statement released today May 8. the spokesperson of the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, described the killing as “unprovoked and mindless”.? According to Omoni, the gunmen who drove in two branded Hilux vans, attacked the special checkpoint at Choba bridge, in the Ikwere Local Government Area where two Policemen on duty were killed in a surprise attack and a private car belonging to one of the policemen set ablaze.?

Omoni said a similar attack was launched at Rumuji Police Station in Emuohua Local Government Area of the State by the same hoodlums and that two policemen on duty were killed and a police patrol vehicle burnt.?

He said during the exchange of fire, two of the attackers were fatally wounded and died on the spot.?

He added that the gunmen proceeded to attack the Elimg alt='Rivers state police confirm death of seven officers killed by gunmen ' class='img-responsive text-center' style='margin: auto;'bu Police Station in Obio/Akpor Council where three officers were killed in the attack. He said the intense gunbattle led the  hoodlums to abandon their bullet-riddled Hilux van. He said they escaped with various degrees of gunshot wounds with a snatched Sienna bus.?

Omoni said in all three attacks carried out last night, no Police Station/formation was burnt but that a total of five assault rifles were lost in the incident. He enjoined the residents of the state to increase their security consciousness and report any person or persons with gun wounds to the nearest Police Station or call the following numbers 08032003514 or 08098880134

See Photos: Police Command Arrest Fake Army Major With Bags Of Indian Hemp In Delta State





The Delta state police command has arrested a fake Army Major, Fabian Ojumah, allegedly involved in the sale of Indian Hemp.

Fabian who is an indigene of Abbi village in Ndokwa-West Local Government Area of the state, was allegedly apprehended while riding a fake military van with plate number NA142-B01 and with 420 packs of compressed weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp.

When interrogated, Fabian who claimed to have grown up in a military barracks, said he has been in the business of Indian Hemp sale since 2014. He also told the police that he bought the Army plate number from a serving personnel. He also told the police that the Army uniform he wore was bought at Mammy market within the barracks.

The state police command says Fabian will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded.

Atiku’s Home State Records 1.6m PVC Collection Ahead 2019 Elections


The Independent National Electoral Commission ( Inec) says 1.6 million Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected by eligible voters in Adamawa, the home state of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar.

Inec Resident Electoral Commissioner in Adamawa Kasim Gaidam said that the PVCs collected were out of the 1.973,882 issued so far in the state.
