I Invoked Ogun Spirits Against Emefiele Naira Scarcity That Threatened My Presidential Ambition: Tinubu Boast

President Bola Tinubu says he invoked the “spirit of freedom” in Ijebu land against President Muhammadu Buhari and former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, when they appeared to be threatening his political ambition.

“Your monies were confiscated. The cash swap didn’t work. It was terrible then. I realised that I came to Ogun State to invoke the spirit of freedom for which we are noted for,” Mr Tinubu said.

“I invoked that spirit twice. The spirit of Baba (referring to Awujale). The spirit of Baba – Emi l’okan (it’s my turn), that’s Baba. The spirit for being blunt and that is him. And the second spirit is that of money (naira scarcity), ‘ama dibo ama wole’ (we will vote and we will win) even if there is no money. And that, ever since, has been the spirit that is driving me to serve.”

Mr Tinubu disclosed this at the Palace of Awujale of Ijebu Land, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, when he paid a courtesy visit on Thursday.

Speaking with All Progressives Congress delegates in June 2022 in Ogun state, in the run-up to the party’s primary, Mr Tinubu declared that ’emi lo kan’, while narrating how he helped former President Muhammadu Buhari to clinch the presidency in 2015.

“He tried the first time and failed. He tried a second time and failed. He tried a third time and failed. He even cried on television that he would never run for president again,” Mr Tinubu said. “I went to meet him and told him this is not a crying matter: ‘we will support you and you will be president’.”

Again, in January 2023, during APC presidential campaign in Ogun state, Mr Tinubu accused the Buhari regime of using the raging fuel scarcity and naira redesign and cash handling policies of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to blunt his chances at the ballot box at the February polls.

“You’re hoarding fuel and hoarding the naira,” Mr Tinubu said in Abeokuta. “Still, we will vote, and we will win this election.

“Whether you change the ink of the naira or spend money till you are in debt, things won’t turn out as you hope, we are the ones who will win the election, and our opponents will fail,” he had boasted.

I’m Your President Whether You Voted For Me Or Not – Tinubu Boast

President Bola Tinubu has called for unity to stabilise the country, while reminding Nigerians that he is their leader regardless of the party they voted for during the February 25th presidential election.

“We must promote unity and stability for all. Whether you voted for me during the elections, or not, I am your President. I will work on your behalf to ensure a turning point of prosperity,’’ Mr Tinubu said.

The president, according to a statement by his spokesman, Dele Alake, on Saturday, said this at an interactive session with members of the Nigerian community living in France, where he attended a two-day economic summit hosted by the French government.

Explaining his immediate removal of fuel subsidy, Mr Tinubu said “we have transport challenges, electricity challenges, infrastructural challenges and others. I let out the giant elephant of fuel subsidy without bringing down the house.”

Mr Tinubu assumed office on May 29, after emerging from an election which stretched the country’s ethnic and religious division to its limits.

His decision to run with a fellow Muslim, Kashim Shettima, as vice president attracted fierce criticisms from the Christian community who claimed Mr Tinubu was towing the path of Islamisation of the country.

Many Nigerians, especially young persons, who despised the political establishment’s long years of misrule, sided with former Anambra governor Peter Obi of the Labour Party in the February 25 presidential elections. They still believe the election was rigged in favour of Mr Tinubu.

I Rescued Atiku From Obasanjo Who Wanted To Roast Him Like Goat Meat – Tinubu Boast

The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, has said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has no mandate and is only in Nigeria for the sake of the general elections.

Tinubu during a campaign rally in Uyo, capital city of Akwa Ibom on Monday also said he “rescued” Atiku Abubakar from former President Olusegun Obasanjo who wanted to roast him like goat meat.

Abubakar, former vice-president and now standard-bearer of PDP, had a running battle with his former principal for years.

Both men reconciled in the build-up to the 2019 general elections.

Obasanjo also endorsed Abubakar for the presidency during the 2019 polls, saying that he was better than incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.

However, for the 2023 presidential election, the former president has since thrown his weight behind Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).

The former governor of Lagos said Abubakar and his party were just about “stomach infrastructure,” The Cable News Reports.

“They don’t have a mandate; what they have is ice cream. It has melted. I am the one that rescued him from Obasanjo who wanted to roast him like goat meat,” he said.

“He ran away to Dubai, and when the election came again, he came for stomach infrastructure. He came to Lagos. We rehabilitated him and gave him a ticket but he wasted it and used it to collect money.

“He faced Obasanjo, faced Buhari and failed. He failed with Jonathan. He failed in all his subjects.

“You better watch him before he starts selling the little palm trees that you have left. What we need to do is to develop our country. We have enough gas reservoirs on our land.

“Akwa Ibom, you will not suffer again. That boy [Emmanuel Udom] that brought Atiku here, that calls himself governor, tell him enough is enough. He lived in my backyard in Lagos. If not that we are one, I’d have driven him home.”

If Not For Me, Atlantic Ocean Almost Wipes Out Lagos – Tinubu Boast

Former Lagos state governor and APC presidential flag bearer for 2023, Bola Tinubu has claimed credit for being the brain behind controlling the Atlantic Ocean surge that would have otherwise wiped Lagos. This claim has set tongues wagging because flooding in the city’s coastal areas persists.

“I tamed the Atlantic ocean surge that could have perished many people in Lagos. The infrastructural renewal in Lagos is excellent,” the former Lagos governor asserted.

Mr Tinubu made the assertion in an interview with the BBC Focus on Africa, broadcast Tuesday evening.

However, Mr Tinubu’s statement contradicts reports projecting that Lagos will be unlivable in the near future due to constant floods and rising sea levels.

When asked why Nigerians should vote him as president, considering the woeful leadership of the current regime with which he shares the same political party, Mr Tinubu told BBC he was “different” and went ahead to list his accomplishments while serving as governor of Lagos.

“I am different. I am Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I have governed Lagos, and I built a modern state that could be a country on its own,” added the APC presidential candidate. “I led an administration that is so prudent; from N600 million IGR to N5 billion a month. That is a record. No one else can brag about that.”

I Will Withdraw Police Escorts From VIPs If Elected President In 2022 – Tinubu Boast

Former Lagos state governor, and presidential candidate of The All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has promised to reform the Nigerian Police Force for efficiency if elected as president next year.

He said he would free police officers from being security or orderlies for Very Important Personality, adding that police personnel on such duties would be replaced by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps officers.

This was contained in the manifesto made available to the public on Friday,

It was reportes that top on his priority lists of action plans was national security, economy, agriculture, power, oil and gas, transportation and education.

The 80-page document, containing multi-sectoral policy options, was tagged “Renewed Hope 2023 – Action Plan for a Better Nigeria.”

On police reform, Tinubu said, “We shall boost the public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and other internal security agencies by increasing recruitment and providing high-tech, non-lethal equipment with corresponding manpower development schemes.

“Police reform will be focused on positioning the institution to better deliver on its primary duties of community policing and maintaining law and order through crime fighting and prevention.

“Police personnel will be freed from extraneous duties such as VIP security and guard duties. VIP Security and provision of security for government buildings, installations and other critical assets will be transferred to The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. The NSCDC shall be evaluated and reformed to be better integrated with our internal security apparatus.”

I Changed Lagos, I Can Change Nigeria – Presidential Aspirant, Tinubu Boast

Former Lagos state governor and National Leader of All Progressives Congress National, Bola Tinubu has told Bauchi delegates that he is capable of changing Nigeria for the better, using Lagos as an example of what he can achieve nationally.

He told the Bauchi delegates that with their support he would clinch the APC presidential ticket.

“I’ve demonstrated my capacity, quality and brilliance in governance in Lagos state. I’ve been a very successful private sector person and joining politics is not a joke in an experience, it’s not a small thing,” said Mr Tinubu. “I want to serve my country, I want Nigeria to change, help those who are extremely poor, give priority to education, give priority to power generation so that we can have industrial growth.”

“I am a serious-minded man. Those who rule Lagos now will testify that it’s a different nation within the country,” Mr Tinubu said.

He stated this in Bauchi on Wednesday when he met with the delegates of the party. The former governor of Lagos also said he wanted to serve Nigeria and make it change for the better.

“Let me greet and appreciate all of you who have been waiting here for a long time while we were parambulating the city of Bauchi. I am one of those running to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I am very sure, with your support, I will win,” stated the APC presidential hopeful.

He, however, called on all members of the party in the state to be united and shun any form of animosity or differences for the success of the party.

The APC presidential aspirant added that he had observed that members of the party were not as united as he had anticipated but promised to do anything possible to unite them.

“If you decide to work together, nobody can beat you in Bauchi,” he assured the delegates.
