Angry Nigerian Market Women Vows Beat Tinubu Up Over Hardship

Some market women in Ogun State have called for Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu's resignation over the soaring prices of goods and the biting hardship in the country

The market women who berated Tinubu’s administration, threatened to beat up the President one-on-one.

The market women disclosed this while speaking to a news reporter in a video seen by SaharaReporters on Wednesday. They noted that Tinubu disappointed Nigerians, particularly the Yoruba.

An elderly woman said “He has disappointed us in Yoruba land, he is not behaving like a Yoruba man.”

Another one asserted that “Everything is so costly to the extent that we cannot afford to buy one bowl of garri. We are tired of everything, when I started business, a carton of fish was 200 naira but now it is 20,000 naira.

"We don’t have food to eat, old people are dying. Business is not moving, and there’s nothing. We are all hungry.

“This problem is too much. If you can’t solve our problem, don’t add to it.”

Another trader appealed to the president to have mercy on Nigerians, saying, “We’re tired of Nigeria; everything is costly, everything is getting costly every day.”

“What he promised us is not what’s happening now. This is too much.”

“At this point we are tired, things are too costly. A carton of Titus is N100,000; it used to cost N17,000. Kote is going to N60,000. Shawa, which we used to sell for N70, now goes for N700.”

When asked what they would tell the president if they had the opportunity to see him, one of the traders said “We will beat the President if we have opportunity of seeing him, we will beat him. What he told us is not what he is doing.”

Women, Youths Must Be Appointed Into Key Government Roles In 2023 – Presidential Aspirant, Bukola Saraki Says

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki said that women and youths must form critical components of Nigeria government in 2023.

Mr Saraki stated this in an interview with journalists at the sideline of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State and Zonal Women Leaders meeting in Abuja .

“I think both women and the youth have a great role to play, because at the end of the day governance is about providing for the people.

“Seventy per cent of them are under 25. They must play key role in elective and appointive positions.

“The reality is that you cannot make laws or govern people and they are not part of it. As a woman said here they must be part of the decision making.

“My view is that women and youth who constitutes more than 50 per cent of voting population must play key role in the government that come in 2023.”

The former senate president said that come 2023, the PDP would give more support to women to occupy more elective and appointive positions.

“I can promise you that with our chairman, I will also follow him behind, God willing, come 2023, we will attain that 50 per cent for women. We have to work hard.”

Mr Saraki said that he and the party leaders would support the women so that the PDP wins the 2023 election and that women members of the party were rewarded.

Speaking on the Electoral Bill, he urged President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the bill into law, adding that Nigeria must have strong Electoral Act, as foundation for good governance.

“The President needs to sign and I think that will be the greatest legacy we have, to lay the foundation for good governance.

“So I hope that the last few days left he will do the right thing for the country and for future generations of Nigeria, much younger ones,” Mr Saraki said.

Form Parties To Challenge Old Politicians – INEC Urge Young Nigerians, Women

The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has advised youths and women to form a political party where they can challenge old and male aspirants from other parties.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kwara, Garba Madami, gave the advice on Friday during a visit by the Conscientious Youth Empowerment Foundation.

Mr Madami said that from all available statistics, women and youth constituted over 80 per cent of voters in any election in the country.

“What they need to do is to come together and form a political party which will now provide a platform for both men and women to contest the election.

“That will remove the issue of marginalisation, lack of money to contest and cannot compete with old politicians,” he said.

He pointed out that Nigeria youths were wasting their time waiting for existing political parties to give them a platform.

“The old politicians will never quit and give you the opportunity, so you have to grab the opportunity.

“You have to get the opportunity and the only way to do that is to revolutionise politics in the country and that is by teaming up with the women to form a political party,” the REC said.

Mr Madami added that elections in Nigeria were becoming more transparent, adding that rigging is becoming impossible.

This, he said, was because the results of the election were declared right from the polling units to collation centres.

Women Who Give Birth In Government Hospitals Will Get N500 – Says Ikpeazu Abia State Governor

Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu says women who give birth in government health facilities in the southeast state will get N500 and a delivery pack.

According to him, the move became important since access to quality healthcare is not cheap.

“Abia State has keyed into the basic health insurance for pregnant women. If you put to bed in any of our primary healthcare centres, you get N500,”.

“Delivery is free; they give you a delivery pack and they give N500 which is running for the vulnerable members of the society.”

The governor, who further defended the move, said it is targeted at vulnerable and poor people and that the delivery pack contains items needed to take care of newborn babies.

“But if you want a certain level of medicare, you should be able to pay,” Ikpeazu noted, adding: “Are you asking a poor woman what she will do with N500? Some people don’t have it.”

While the money may be seen as little, the governor maintained that “at least it will pay their way back home.”

Stop Teaching Your Daughters Getting Married is The Purpose of Their Existence- Sonia Ogbonna

Wife of Nollywood actor Ike Ogbonna, Sonia Ogbonna Took to Instagram to share a screenshot of a lady who reached out for help and the advice she got.
Sonia who is not in support of the advice wrote,

“Dear FELLOW women.
You need to STOP teaching your daughters that GETTING MARRIED AND “KEEPING A MAN” is an ultimate PURPOSE of a woman’s existence. That is the reason why some ladies suffer so badly in their homes because they think that everything is better then “ loosing” a man. Stop teaching your daughters that they exist only to sacrifice, stomach and tolerate everything and anything man does.STOP MAKING ME
ANGRY,please. TEACH THEM TO KNOW THEIR WORTH AND TO LOVE THEMSELVES FIRST,BEFORE YOU TEACH THEM HOW TO COOK,CLEAN AND “SERVE” THEIR FUTURE HUSBAND WELL. (This post refers to Nigerians for some reason but I for sure know it applies to half of this world where women suffer in their homes and where they are so afraid of being judged if they choose to leave ).I AM MY SISTERS KEEPER. I LOVE ME ALL MY WOMEN!! #SoniaOgbonna”
